When Medicaid expansion fails to save the rural hospitals remember Patti Davis, director of the Oklahoma Hospital Association and the Democrat leadership in the Senate killed a bill that passed the House with wide bi-partisan support that would have pumped millions into rural hospitals and not cost Oklahoma taxpayers a dime.
The bill would have had zero effect on Medicaid if it expanded or not and was ONLY for the rural hospitals, EMTs and Mental Health services . Davis is a long time Democrat activist who used the rural health care crisis to push Medicaid expansion on to Oklahoma taxpayers who were naive enough to believe that she and the OHA care about rural health care.
The OHA and Davis have become shills for the big urban hospitals who could care less about rural areas. They want those rural hospitals to become triage units only.
I am saddened that we will have to learn the hard way what states who expanded Medicaid have learned about it NOT helping struggling rural hospitals. If you have friends who voted for this travesty remind them in a few years of what they were told and compare it to what happens.
