Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr is going viral for a Tuesday rant. It was in the aftermath of the Uvalde school shooting. It was your typical rant. Do something! But only do the one thing he thinks will fix things. If you disagree with his prescription and solution, you want to see children slaughtered. If you want to know why we can never have the serious conversations we need to have, here are your reasons. Joe Biden is Exhibit A. Steve Kerr is Exhibit B.
Kerr demands the Senate pass what's called the "background check" bill that Democrats want. Other people who don't want to see children slaughtered disagree that would help. Those people would like to see more security in schools and for us to protect our children the same way we protect elected officials or the airlines. It would require having trained, armed officers in schools or even ex-military, many of whom can fill the jobs today.
I'd say we should reach out and find common ground. But this was the same Kerr who in 2020 called for police to be REMOVED from schools.
It's not just Kerr who thought this. Last year alone, 33 more school systems in states including Virginia and California eliminated their “school resource officer” or “school safety officer” programs. Removing security from schools has been a soggy dream for leftists like Kerr. Contrary to what Twitter is saying, there was no armed security at the Uvalde school. There was no checkpoint. Anyone could get in.
I agree with Kerr that something needs to be done. Where I disagree with him is what that something should be. I also disagree that people who propose a different solution from me are okay with babies being slaughtered.
