You're in New Yorkkkkkkkkkk! Concrete jungle where things are made of, and there's nothing you can't do...except enjoy a Big Mac in peace without things popping off on sight. In today's episode of "Life in a Progressive City," there was a dispute between one man and a group of men over who was truly lovin' it. Folks, these are the jokes.
And then someone grabbed a hatchet.
In any other city, a scene like this might be shocking. But you're in New York, where a McDonald's employee was murdered over cold french fries. So, this clip doesn't even crack the Top 5.
It's unclear what set things off. There was screaming between the one man we know now to be Michael Palacios and a group of others. Punches were exchanged. Palacios at first looked like he was trying to defuse the situation by not returning blows as he caught hands from the assailants. Instead, he grabbed a hatchet from his bag, smashed a window, and then menaced some poor woman sitting in a booth.
Palacios has been charged with criminal mischief, three counts of menacing, and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. Shocking to none of you reading this, he has priors.
Lee Zeldin, the Republican candidate for governor, issued a statement that this is just another day in Governor Kathy Hochul's New York. if only there was something New Yorkers could do about it other than move to Florida.
Perhaps it is something in the secret sauce that causes people to wild out at McDonald's. Just saying, it never seems to go down like this at Taco Bell.
