Alexandria Ocasio Cortez is thrilled that Tucker Carlson is out at Fox. Though she apparently fears he will make a return. Which he probably (hopefully) will.
““Deplatforming works and is important.” Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez smugly celebrates Fox News killing Tucker Carlson’s show.”— Catch Up (@Catch Up) 1682401843
"Tucker Carlson is out at Fox News. Couldn't have happened to a better guy. What I will say though is, while I'm very glad that the person who was arguably responsible for some of the largest, driving some of the most amounts of death threats and violent threats, not just to my office, but to plenty of people across the country."
"I also kind of feel like I'm waiting for the cut scene at the end of a Marvel movie after all the credits have rolled and then you see like the villian's, like, hand reemerge out to grip over, like, the building or something..."
"But, deplatforming works, and it is important, and um...there you go. Good things can happen."
The timing of Tucker's ouster is quite odd, as just this past weekend, AOC literally called for Tucker and Fox News to be shut down. Because they're too mean, or something. She accused both of "inciting violence" in January 6th and said it would be "better for the country" if Fox News's Dominion case had not concluded with a settlement.
"I believe that when it comes to broadcast television, like Fox News, these are subject to federal law, federal regulation in terms of what’s allowed on air and what isn’t."
“When you look at what Tucker Carlson and some of these other folks on Fox do, it is very, very clearly incitement of violence — very clearly incitement of violence. And that is the line that we have to be willing to contend with.”
I don't *think* AOC has enough power to actually be responsible for Tucker's departure. But it is a weird coincidence.
