Voters in New York City recently elected anti-cop Alvin Bragg as Manhattan District Attorney. Bragg announced on January 5 that he was going to stop charging most criminals. On January 22, Officer Jason Rivera was murdered while answering a domestic call that turned out to be an ambush. He was only twenty-two years old. His widow, Dominique Luzuriaga, spoke at his funeral today. She hopes that District Attorney Bragg is watching and paying attention.
"And although you won't be here anymore, I want you to live through me. The system continues to fail us. We are not safe anymore, not even the members of the service. I know you were tired of these laws, especially the ones from the new DA. I hope he's watching you speak through me right now."
"I'm sure all of our blue family is tired, too. But I promise—we promise—that your death won't be in vain. I love you to the end of time. We'll take the watch from here."
Bragg is not the only anti-cop Democrat that Democratic New York voters elected into office. Councilwoman Kristin Richardson Jordan, who represents the district in which Officer Rivera was murdered, said earlier this month "The NYPD is still the biggest gang in New York City."
Democrat NYC Public Advocate Jumaane Williams has said, “Hiring police officers is sending the wrong message.”
Attorney General Letitia James, elected statewide by Democrats, has said, “Policing is embedded in racism.”
All of these anti-cop Democrats pushing pro-crime policies, who campaigned on those policies, were elected into office by New York voters. They were making anti-cop statements while campaigning for the offices to which they were elected.
Officer Wilbert Mora and Officer Jason Rivera aren't with us anymore. They were murdered in the line of duty. I hope the VOTERS were listening to Dominique Luzuriaga.
