I have it on good authority that liberal cities are verifiably terrible. In Chicago, you can’t even celebrate the holidays without someone trying to kill you. And as law enforcement continues to be demonized by ignorant leftists, criminals are taking the opportunity to run wild.
Corporations that are tired of operating in crime-ridden sh*t holes like Chicago are demonstrating their displeasure by leaving. Corporations like Boeing, which, as National Review explains, is ditching the Windy City for Glenn Youngkin’s Virginia.
“Boeing, the world’s third-largest defense contractor and a famous maker of passenger jets, is moving its headquarters from Chicago to Arlington, Va.
“The move comes as Chicago is increasingly ravaged by crime and random drive-by shootings in the middle of downtown. In recent weeks, the theater district in downtown Chicago has had to shut down plays because the area has become so unsafe at night.
“Crime in Chicago is up 35 percent this year compared with the same period in 2021. Theft is up by 67 percent.”
Additionally, “punishing tax and regulatory policies” have made the state an awful place to operate a business, and the move to Virginia—with Youngkin’s moves to reduce taxes and slash regulations—promises to be the perfect decision for the company.
Boeing cannot be the only business looking to make a move from Chicago. As the racist mayor of Chicago berates businesses for her own failure to crack down on crime, she’s far more concerned with inciting violence in the name of murdering defenseless babies and protecting LGBTQ+ rights. Nothing about her brand of progressive (read regressive) governance bodes well for the future of Chicago.
While, as Hot Air points out, 500 Boeing employees will remain, the crushing blow of thousands of departing jobs with undoubtedly be felt. And that’s just a single company making the decision to move from a solidly blue city to greener pastures in a red state. Who will be the next to make the move?
