I don't know how much legacy and/or corporate media I can revel in. Hopefully, no one has overdosed on schadenfreude before. The drama at The Washington Post was almost TOO much. Now, there is a report from Axios that new CNN boss Chris Licht is "reevaluating" the network's more partisan personalities. If I were Jim Acosta and Brian "Don't Call Me a Potato" Stelter, I'd be updating my resume and calling an HR recruiter.
Citing not one, not two, but THREE sources, Sara Fisher (a regular on Stelter's show) says new president Chris Licht wants "to give personalities that may appear polarizing a chance to prove they're willing to uphold the network's values so that they don't tarnish CNN's journalism brand." If they can't be anything other than partisan dickweeds, "they could be ousted." Acosta and Tater were two who were singled out.
The best part about this story, and the reason why I have popcorn popping as we speak, is that both Acosta and Stelter had had two major examples that they CANNOT give up the partisan douchebaggery. Acosta got into a fight with an NRA member, accusing the man of literally having blood on in hands because of the Uvalde shooting. And Stelter is crying into his breakfast cheesecake because FOX News isn't covering the live January 6 kangaroo court.
I'll say this about Chris Licht: When he was the showrunner for "Morning Joe," it didn't suck nearly as much as it does now. "MoJo" is hot garbage now, if the garbage is 75% Joe Biden's soiled underpants. But in the beginning--when it was Joe, Mika, Willie, and filmmaker John Ridley--it was a good show.
We'll see if he does it to CNN. Sending Acosta to MSNBC and Brian Stelter to the White House press office would be a start.
