America was shook this week. No, not the nonsense over the Speaker of the House. Ain't nobody got time for that. The National Championship is this Monday in Los Angeles between the Georgia Bulldogs and the TCU Horned Frogs. And fans in attendance will NOT be allowed to tailgate before the game. It's one of the most unAmerican decisions you can think of. Did I mention the game was being played in California?
I admit to not following college football that much and prefer the grown-ups (go Bills). But it's every American's God-given right to tailgate before sporting events, concerts, little league games, dance recitals...basically if there is a parking lot our red Solo cups should be filled. Not at SoFi stadium. Even worse, we can't blame the usual California politicians.
Tailgating will not be allowed on-site before the game between the Georgia Bulldogs and TCU Horned Frogs, according to the SoFi Stadium website. It appears that the directive is coming from the College Football Playoff.
Right. "Appears."
Unamused by this is Georgia Governor and signer of common sense voter-integrity reform Brian Kemp.
Local Bulldogs fan and youth football coaching legend @3YearLetterman is lobbying to pass the Gerald R. Ford Right to Tailgate Act of 2023. The bill states Congress will make no law abridging the Right to Tailgate, no group of people will be denied their right to gather before a sporting event and get sh*tfaced, and Putin has zero SEC championships. That last bit isn't a "law" but it needs to be resoluted.
His patriotic views on how much soccer sucks aside, @3YearLetterman is apolitical and is lobbying for bipartisan support for his legislation. It just so happens the first two sponsors are conservative stalwarts. Horned Frogs fan Sen. Ted Cruz.
And University of Georiga alumni Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.
As of this writing, it is unclear if the Gerald R. Ford Right to Tailgate Act of 2023 is part of the deal Kevin McCarthy cut with his opposition. Today would be the last day to vote on this important legislation. If it isn't included, it's the final straw, and McCarthy shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the Speaker of the House's fancy chair.
He's a California politician. The no-tailgating game is in California. Just sayin'.
