The government works with social media to censor speech. It colludes with teachers' unions to target parents. And now, after pressure from leftist lawmakers, the International Standards Organization (ISO) has created a new purchasing code by which they'll track when you exercise your second amendment rights.
According to a report by CBS News, the ISO "sets rules across the financial services industry," and recently agreed to the creation of the new tracking code after a letter signed by lawmakers, led by Senator Elizabeth Warren and Representative Madeleine Dean put pressure on several credit card companies to do so. Apparently, the move is to crack down on suspicious firearms sales... Last I checked, there weren't many people out buying a bunch of illegal firearms with their AMEX cards... I think those are primarily cash transactions.
This is a move that will only affect those out buying their guns and ammo at Cabela's or Academy Sports or the local firearms shop--you know, the same people undergoing FBI background checks, too.
For their part, Visa doesn't agree with the move. "We believe that asking payment networks to serve as a moral authority by deciding which legal goods can or cannot be purchased sets a dangerous precedent. We understood Amalgamated Bank's request to be justified, at least in part, by an interest in blocking transactions that would fall under such a new category, and Visa's rules expressly prohibit blocking of legal transactions under an MCC."
While Visas position is commendable, I'll be making all my second amendment purchases with cash from this point forward. Remember when banks started doing the bidding of the radical, tyrannical left? Well, this is just another iteration of that.
F*ck you, government--and especially you, Elizabeth Warren.
