Dave Chappelle stopped by the Comedy Store in LA on Thursday night and revealed that he had spoken with Isaiah Lee before Lee was loaded into the back of an ambulance. TMZ reports, Chappelle told police he needed to talk to him to find out why Lee attacked him.
Lee told Chappelle he was trying to draw attention to his grandmother who was forced out of her home due to gentrification. Whether that is true or not or how he thought attacking the GOAT with a deadly weapon would help his grandmother, I don't know. But it's what he told Chappelle.
Chappelle then clowned the guy, as he and Chris Rock swapped stories about getting attacked on stage in Los Angeles. Chappelle told Rock, "At least you got smacked by someone of repute. I got smacked by a homeless guy with leaves in his hair!" Rock responded, "I got smacked by the softest n**** that ever rapped." Unclear is who is a softer rapper: Will Smith or Isaiah Lee.
Some people thought the attack had to do with activists and the media (but I repeat myself) labeling Chappelle's comedy as "hate" and "transphobic." It turns out that might not be the case, and Lee might just be another crazy person.
No further details on Isaiah Lee. It's been more than 48 hours and it's Los Angeles, so he might be back out on the street.
