Elections have consequences, as independent reporter @LibsOfTikTok dropped X on. The city of Denver has been, quote, "overwhelmed" by an unflux of 40,000 undocumented illegals. Why did they choose Colorado? It could be for the robust, progressive, pro-illegals policies that the state of Colorado voted for.
What's funny is that some progressive areas, like New York City, have among the lowest voter turnout in America. Not Colorado though!
LWC Next Gen Stats:
- Democrat Jared Polis was elected governor with 58% of the vote.
- In 2020, Colorado had 87% voter turnout.
- In 2022, Colorado has the fifth-highest voter turnout.
In between the Democrats they voted for in 2020 and policies they validated in 2022, came this 2021 article boasted about how the legislative session brought progressive immigration policies to Colorado! As is customary in the journalisming industry, the headline writer left out the "illegal" part of the immigration.
Democrats [...]championed legislation that did away with barriers to resources, including professional and business licenses, for Colorado immigrants lacking proper documentation.
They mean illegals.
They created a no-cost reproductive health care program for undocumented people...
Again, illegals
...and established data privacy protections to prevent state agencies from feeding personal information to immigration enforcement.
Illegal immigration endorsement.
And those are just a few examples of the TWELVE new pro-illegal immigration laws that were passed. Fast forward three years' worth of Joe Biden's Border crisis. Texas Governor Greg Abbott humanitarianly decided that since so many progressive areas like Colorado are sanctuaries where no human being is illegal, he would help these undocumented illegals migrate to these places where they would be greeted with open arms.
Nearly 40,000 migrants have arrived in Denver over the past year, making a city with a population of just over 710,000 the top destination per capita for newly arrived [illegal[ migrants crossing the U.S. southern border and traveling north in buses from Texas.
The influx is taking a toll on the city’s public safety net. Starting Feb. 5, Denver will limit the number of days [illegal] migrants can stay in shelters and send those who exceed their stay out onto the streets.
Denver Mayor Mike Johnston estimates the city will need $100 million over 2024 to pay for housing, schooling, health care and other services as a result of the unexpected influx of [illegal] migrants.
Every time Coloradoians have had the opportunity to go to the polls over the past few years, they have voted in record numbers to elect the politicians who keep pushing through these policies. The people living in the small towns along the border who were overwhelmed prior to Gov. Abbott's common-sense relocation program? Not so much so.
Maybe they'll start to realize the people they vote for are the problem. Considering recent decisions by the state Supreme Court, I doubt it, though.
