The internet belongs to Elon Musk today, folks. Just sit back, follow the news as best you can, and revel in the meltdowns. I think a lot of us are in agreement the sale will not go through and are enjoying the moment for as long as we can. Or will the sale go through? Elon Musk did a live TEDtalk today about it. He couldn't give many details, which is understandable. However, he provided us with some nuggets, and the crews at The Blaze and Townhall provided us with the clips.
Musk's biggest concern is when it comes to free speech, which he believes isn't taken so seriously by the company right now. Judging from the blue checkmark meltdowns, our media isn't serious about it either. Elon also thinks the company has become too liberal in banning people they don't like.
The biggest change Elon wants to make is with the algorithm. The algorithm is how Big Tech companies decide what content you are allowed to see. Critics say (including me--I'm critics) that the companies have been using it in a partisan way to throttle any opposing viewpoint they don't like. Musk says, "I believe Twitter should open source the algorithm. [If they throttle or edit anyone's tweets] that action should be made apparent so you can see that an action has been taken. So that there's no sort of behind the scenes manipulation, either algorithm or politically or manually."
The biggest open question is what the billionaire plans to do if Twitter rejects his offer. Musk promises he has a Plan B.
You know what they say about Plan B's...
That SHOULD conclude the drama for today until employees start leaking information from the ALL HANDS meeting Twitter is holding this afternoon. I also said a prayer to the god or gods of content that Joe Biden gets a question about Musk when his handlers aren't around. If you're the praying type, please do so, as well.
