Majority shareholder Elon Musk was named to Twitter's board of directors and many of us who use the bird app (or are forced to for work) were hoping for some changes. We'd like to no longer be shadow-banned. We'd like our content to no longer be throttled. And maybe give Alex Jones his account back. Turns out, we were thinking too small. Elon Musk has much bigger plans than eliminating employees who look to censor opinions with which they disagree. Musk wants to turn Twitter into a source of change in the world.
Like solving San Francisco's homelessness crisis.
I don't know if it is true that NO ONE shows up. Maybe an independent fact-checker can report back on that. Twitter's former CEO had announced working from the office was now optional. Homelessness has gotten so bad in San Francisco (thanks to the progressive policies that the progressive employees of Twitter advocate), I can see people taking the company up on that offer. Why walk past people giving a TEDtalk on doing meth if you don't have to? Having such a huge building stay empty while there are so many homeless people doesn't sound like equity.
And even more important, Musk is looking for opinions from his fans. Should he remove the "w" in "Twitter?" That would change the company name to Titter. As in, boobies.
Fans of chesticles went right to the memes,
On the surface, you would think this is Musk having fun and nothing more. But it was an innocent tweet polling people on free speech that led to Musk buying close to ten percent of the company. We have no reason to NOT believe these are both ideas to which Musk is giving serious consideration.
When a failing company rebrands, one of the first things they do is change the name of the company. Twitter is dead, my friends. Long live Titter!
