There are rumors that should Joe Biden not run in 2024, Hillary Clinton is ready to roll. Whether there is truth to these rumors or it's just progressive fan fiction is unclear. But if the Hillary Clinton TV series Rodham was to be part of a Hillary rebrand, executives at Hulu may want to hire food tasters and someone to start their car. The streaming network PASSED on the 20th Television project.
Rodham is based on the "best selling" novel. It's a fantasy land where Hillary Rodham never married Bill Clinton, became a college professor, and for some reason still ran for president in 2016. In this alternative world, Bill Clinton is still accused of rape and Donald Trump still exists. No word on if Hillary Rodham was still a guest at Trump's wedding, or who she brought as a date.
I'd never heard of the book before finding out people are shopping for a TV show. I'm guessing the premise is that Hillary could have still had a political career had she not married Bill. And that Bill Clinton was to blame for Hillary failing at running for president twice. It was Bill's fault and not because Hillary is... well, Hillary.
The show is set to star Claire Danes and Dakota Fanning playing Hillary Rodham at different stages of her life. It's being produced by the same people who produce The Handmaid's Tale, because, of course, it is.
The production company plans to shop it around to other streaming services. Maybe Disney+ will pick it up.
