President Biden will not be at Pope Benedict XVI's funeral this Thursday, though the decision wasn't his to make.
The world's best press secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, explained yesterday that the U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See will be the only representative from the United States in attendance, "per the wishes of the Vatican."
“JEAN-PIERRE was asked whether or not President Biden would be attending the Pope's funeral

JEAN-PIERRE: "The U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See...will represent the U.S. at the funeral...in line with the wishes of the late Pope and the Vatican...This is what their wishes were."”— Daily Caller (@Daily Caller) 1672779649
President Biden was asked today why he won't be in attendance, and he simply said, "you know why," before claiming his necessary entourage would just "get in the way."
“Reporter: “You’re not attending [Pope Benedict XVI’s] funeral tomorrow, though. Why?”

Biden: “Well why do you think?

Reporter: “You tell me.”

Biden: “You know why.”

”— The Post Millennial (@The Post Millennial) 1672847251
Biden has faced heavy criticism over the contradiction between his self-proclaimed Catholic faith and ardent support for abortion. The Catholic Catechism states that abortion is a mortal sin, or an act that “destroys charity in the heart of man by a grave violation of God's law; it turns man away from God." Joe Biden was denied Communion in South Carolina back in 2019 over his support for abortion. Earlier this year, Nancy Pelosi was also denied Communion by the archbishop of San Francisco, Salvatore Cordileone. Cordileone said Pelosi was engaging in scandal by leading other Catholics astray from Church teaching and preferring her own judgment.
Pro-abortion, self-proclaimed Catholic politicians seem to be having an unfortunate effect on American Catholics. According to Pew Research, 56% of Catholics believe abortion should be legal in all or most cases, despite this putting them at odds with Church teaching. That stat does fall once Mass attendance is taken into account.
Back in September, Karine Jean-Pierre was unable to answer whether or not Biden supports any limits on abortion at any point in pregnancy. Last year, Pope Francis described Biden's support for abortion as "incomprehensible" and advised the President to check his conscience.

However, Biden claimed Pope Francis called him a "good Catholic" and to continue receiving Communion, and that the issue of abortion didn't come up at all during their unusually long 90-minute meeting. Yes, this was the same meeting where it was rumored Biden had a calamitous "bathroom accident" that "fact checkers" swear isn't true.
