The case of 35-year-old Stuart Briggs was settled in court last Friday, in which he pleaded guilty to "inflicting bodily harm without intent" during an altercation Briggs instigated with then 16-year-old Alex Williams. But the charges were just the icing on the cake after the smackdown Williams put on Briggs back in September of last year. (h/t Daily Mail)
Briggs accosted Williams, threatening to smash his face in, adding, "I'm gonna stab you down the alley." A lesser man might have run off, but Alex Williams is a junior world champion Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu martial artist, and he wasn't about to flee.
"When the fight or flight kicks in you've got to choose one or the other and I chose to fight back and I was focused. Obviously, I was worried in case he had a knife on him because he has threatened to stab me but in situations like that it's about surviving and I was thankfully ready for him."
And, boy, was he ready!
There's no sound to the video, but I think we can all hear Briggs scream like a little girl as Williams picks him up and manhandles him to the ground. If someone wants to take this video, add a record scratch, and then insert the voice-over, "It was at that moment Briggs knew he f*cked up," the internet would appreciate your service.
While Alex was the undeniable victor that day, he didn't make it away unscathed. Briggs went and pulled a Mike Tyson and bit a chunk of Alex's ear off, ergo the charges.
This took place in the UK, so I don't know how the law works over there, but in the United States, Briggs could've qualified for assault and battery charges. Why he wasn't charged more severely is a mystery to me. But then, I find many things about the UK puzzling...
