On the tail of the International Federation of Swimming (FINA) laying out new regulations regarding transgender athletes competing in swimming events, Megan Rapinoe, in an attempt to remain relevant, sat down for an interview with TIME magazine to give her useless and predictable opinions on the matter of transgender athletes in women's sports.
To sum it up, she's all for it. In her interview with TIME, Rapinoe said, "I'm 100% supportive of trans inclusion." She dismissed concerns about elite competitive sports, saying, "At the highest level, there is regulation. In collegiate sports, there is regulation. And at the Olympic and professional level. It’s not like it’s a free-for-all where everyone’s just doing whatever."
Well, that's not exactly true. Lia Thomas steamrolled over the ladies in collegiate swimming events--which is probably what spurred FINA to act on the matter. And in cycling, weightlifting, and martial arts, men have dominated the field after realizing that they "identify" as women. So, yeah, Rapinoe is an ignorant tool. She does seem pretty confident in her ignorance, though. Later in the interview, she asks people to show her the evidence that trans women are taking everyone's scholarships and titles...
