Joe Biden's head of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas is really bad at this job. Rand Paul is really good at exposing Biden officials who are bad at their jobs during Senate hearings. I'm sure you can guess where things are going as Rand Paul questioned Mayorkas over his "Disinformation Advisory Board," an idea so transparent, that even CNN is calling out the administration.
And an idea Mayorkas didn't think through.
"I think you've got no idea what disinformation is. [...] Do you know who the greatest propagator of disinformation in the history of the world is? The U.S. government. [...] I want you to have nothing to do with speech. [...]You think the American people are so stupid, they need you to tell them what the truth is?"
Mayorkas, timed conveniently right after Elon Musk's purchase of Twitter, announced DHS was launching a "Disinformation Review Board." The claim is it will use "best practices" for dealing with what the Biden administration calls "disinformation." Mayorkas appointed Nina Jankowicz, who spreads disinformation herself, to head up the board. He didn't know anything about her.
Back to Sen. Paul's point, the federal government should not be deciding what is and isn't disinformation, particularly when that federal government helps push the disinformation, with the help of a shilling corporate media. Rand Paul brought up the debunked Russia dossier and enough 'rona misinformation that makes Democrats the least informed about the virus. But also, there has been a lot of disinformation about Florida's Parental Rights in Education bill, Georgia's voter integrity bill, Texas' voter integrity bill, Georgia's 2018 gubernatorial election, the 2016 presidential election, Kyle Rittenhouse, Nicholas Sandmann, the border patrol agent the White House and corporate media claimed whipped a migrant, net neutrality, anytime Joe Biden brings up gun control, and all of Joe Biden's spending bills, the lack of which, had they not passed, would have caused people to literally die, literally.
Just yesterday, Joe Biden spread misinformation about states wanting to segregate LGBTQ students from non-LGBTQ students. Where is Mayorkas' board there?
When a federal government says they want to deal with what THEY call "disinformation," what they mean is opinions that are inconvenient to that government. The difference between Rand Paul and Alejandro Mayorkas is that the senator would have the same opinion under a Republican.
