Homelessness is an issue. It's becoming more of an issue as people fail to get the mental healthcare they desperately need and drugs become more prevalent and gain wider acceptance. It's an issue that requires a solution. San Francisco's mayor London Breed is out to provide those solutions. Well, kind of. She's not out to help all homeless people. Only a particular subset that is especially put upon: transgenders.
That's right. The lefty mayor is out to help only transgender homeless people, announcing on May 31 a 5-year plan to end transgender homelessness in San Francisco.
\u201cToday I announced my 5-year plan to end transgender homelessness in San Francisco, which includes investing in programs that support and create real long-term change in the lives of transgender people. @SF_HSH @SF_DPH @sfmohcd @TransCitySF \nhttps://t.co/mdEPEx01TS\u201d— London Breed (@London Breed) 1654013132
Daily Wire writes that the 5-year plan allocates $6.5M to aiding those who identify as transgender and suffer from homelessness. However, the number of transgender homeless people in San Francisco (320) pales in comparison to the number of women (2,800) and is only a tiny fraction of the number of homeless in the city (~8,000). Why choose to only address this small contingent? Virtue-signaling. That's about it.
Why anyone would mind being homeless in California is a mystery. We know from previous stories that being homeless in Cali is a lucrative business that allows people ample time to do all the drugs they desire and even put on workshops for others on how to do all the drugs they, too, desire.
I suppose for anyone looking to get off the street, though, it only takes showing up to a shelter and saying the word non-binary to have the government shower you in more riches, courtesy of the Californian taxpayer.
I don't imagine any of the money that gets spent addressing this problem will do anything to actually change things. It sounds more like another Democratic program that will exist solely to launder money. But that's just my speculation. Feel free to make your own predictions about the program, and we'll meet back here in five years to see who was right.
