Jerry Jones is the 80-year-old owner of the Dallas Cowboys. Sixty-five years ago, in Alabama, in the segregated south, he stood in the crowd as a group of African-American students entered a school and someone white people protested. And because sixty-five years ago Jones didn't hold up a "Black Lives Matter" sign, that is all you need to know about why Jones has never hired a black coach. That's the crux of this hit piece written by the Washington Post.
WaPo is very on-brand this week. Side note, these are the two reporters who found a sixty-five-year-old photo and are implying it proves Jerry Jones is a closeted raaaaaaaacist.
Unamused by any of this of Stephen A. Smith, a guy who we have agreed with and disagreed with over the years. And point of privilege, I wish I loved anything as much as Stephen A. loves watching the Cowboys lose. But he's fond of Jones, and called this out for what it is.
I don’t have a problem with the photo. If he was 30, 35, 40 years old, that’s different. We’re going to lean on somebody when he was 14? Born and raised in the South, and we’re going to pick it up 66 years later to say ‘You know something, you ain’t hiring a black coach.’ I think that’s pretty low.
It's very low, but it's par for the course with journalismers in 2022. At the end of the day, David Maraniss and Sally Jenkins were able to signal their virtue to their other white progressive friends. That's all this is about.

WaPo's hit piece calling Cowboys owner Jerry Jones racist is so pathetic, even Stephen A. Smith is calling them out
