Many people on the right believe that humans possess dignity and are created in the image of God. Through the eyes of this worldview, education is intended to serve what is sacred. Unfortunately, the left controls the education system and to no surprise, not much “educating” is going on.
Many people on the left believe that humans are nothing more than a tool, and education is meant to shape that tool. Or in other words, indoctrinate them. A typical day for your average 3rd grader might include math, but that is actually racist so probably not. A lesson on biology that has nothing to do with biology. And maybe a lesson on Hitler. Oh sorry, I meant Trump. But that is the same thing, right? Well, at least to them it is.
Anyway, we have a lack of education coming out from someone tasked with just that. As you know who would say: “They are not sending their best.”
Education Secretary Miguel Cardona butchered a famous quote from former President Ronald Reagan warning against Big Government.
— (@)
Cardona inverted the quote while speaking earlier this month at the Western Governors’ Association winter meeting, where he pledged to make the Department of Education more “accessible” and promised to follow up with governors to provide state-level support.
He said, "I think it was President Reagan who said, 'We're from the government. We're here to help.'"
Not only did he blow the quote, but he clearly failed to have even the most basic understanding of its meaning.
But what more were we really expecting from someone who has no clue what a woman is? Way to edumacate the masses, Mr. Secretary.
In actuality, the quote from Regan read, "The nine most terrifying words in the English language are ‘I’m from the government and I’m here to help.’"
Basically, Cardona used the quote to describe the exact opposite of its intended meaning.
Reagan first used this saying in a press conference in 1986.
According to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation & Institute, the comments referred "to how the government tends to be inefficient, to such a degree that instead of helping, it often causes harm instead."
"This view expresses the need for a more diminutive form of government where an individual or organization can complete an activity more effectively than the whole government," it added.
Which is clearly true. Anyone who ignorantly says that the government can run anything efficiently is very stupid. All you have to do is go to the DMV to see how bad things can get when unelected bureaucrats start thinking they have a brain. Honestly, I cannot think of one single thing that the government does better than the private sector. It's just not possible.
Obviously, Cardona did not get that memo because he appeared to be using it in a positive way to promote the funding of education, rather than the negative way it was originally intended.
But a clear lack of historical knowledge and painful ignorance coming from someone tasked with “education” is probably the least offensive thing coming out of Cardona.
Cardona has advocated for boys to participate in girls' sports and was also allegedly involved in the letter from National School Boards Association officials to Biden last year that targeted parents concerned about education issues as potential “domestic terrorists,” according to Breitbart.
School choice is important because it frees families from having social justice approaches imposed on children. And the last thing we need is more "educators" like Cardona.
