New White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre is not very good at her job. Yes, she shattered multiple glass ceilings to get that job. Representation FTW! But it's a job she stinks at. Exhibit Q is her attempt to answer questions about the baby formula crisis that is still a crisis. But hey, at least she didn't get a case of the gigs this time!
To recap how we arrived at empty shelves where baby formula should be, manufacturers are having trouble procuring necessary ingredients because of supply chain issues. Packaging and labor shortages are also contributing to the problem. Plus, there was a recall by Abbott Laboratories, an industry leader. The question is--since nothing is ever this president's fault and the buck stops somewhere else (remember, a Democratic president can never fail, they can only be failed)--who dropped the ball telling POTUS there was a problem?
Dafuq if KJP knows.
Though, to be fair to this president, he has so many other crises he's dealing with. Crises that are, of course, not of his own doing. Remember, he can only be failed! But this president has so many other problems, who can keep track of them all?
So, there you have it. We don't know who spoke to POTUS about it or when. But it's not like he doesn't have other problems that need handling.
The "what if it was a Republican" aspect of White House stories is implied. But let's spell this out. If it were a Republican president, the stories would be about how mothers can't feed their babies. Because it's a Democrat, the story is about how those mothers being angry could affect the party's reelection chances in the fall.
