Mike Slater was joined Friday by Hillsdale College Professor Adam Carrington to better understand the Supreme Court’s long-held number of nine justices and why it may be the magic number.
Adam told Mike while there have been some changes throughout history, we have had the current makeup of nine Supreme Court Justices for 180 years of our more than 240-year lifespan as a country.
Carrington explained that it is good to have an odd number to avoid ties and enough justices to handle the work-load but not so many that they cannot easily communicate and maintain personal relationships.
