UCF transfer forward Marchelus Avery committed to Oklahoma State on Sunday afternoon. Listed at 6-foot-7, Avery averaged 7.6 points and four rebounds a game for the Knights last season while shooting 34% from 3. He should have one year of eligibility remaining. Out of Richmond, Virginia, Avery started his career at the junior college ranks with Northwest Florida State, where he averaged 11.8 points and 7.8 rebounds a game in his lone season there. He then made the move to New Mexico State, where he spent two seasons and played 44 games. In his two seasons in the WAC, Avery averaged six points and 3.4 rebounds a game while shooting an impressive 37% from 3 before making the move to UCF this past season. He has scored in the 20s four times at the Division-I level, including a 22-point performance against South Dakota State this past season in which he hit four 3-pointers. H also had two double-doubles at New Mexico State during the 2022-23 season. In that final season in Las Cruces, Avery shot 42% from 3. Avery becomes the third transfer Lutz has landed to this point and the second from within the Big 12. OSU nabbed Texas Tech transfer Robert Jennings II this past week, who Avery will join as the tallest players on the roster to this point. With Avery and Jennings in the fray, Lutz now has six scholarships available as that pair joins FIU transfer Arturo Dean, Bryce Thompson, Jamyron Keller, Connor Dow and incoming freshman Jeremiah Johnson. Other names to keep an eye on at this point include Arkansas transfer Devonte Davis, Ole Miss transfer (and former Cowboy) Moussa Cisse and Washington transfer Wesley Yates. Those three have all visited OSU. Brandon Garrison is also still available. Garrison entered the portal after Mike Boynton’s firing and has taken visit to Oklahoma, Texas and is on one at Arkansas. ![]() Read this original article at Pistols Firing Blog.

Former Oklahoma State Running Back Elijah Collins Signs with Bengals as Undrafted Free Agent4/27/2024 ![]() It was obviously an impressive running back room at Oklahoma State this past season when a backup is headed to the NFL. Former OSU running back Elijah Collins, who was the power relief behind Doak Walker Award winner Ollie Gordon II, signed with the Cincinnati Bengals as an undrafted free agent Saturday. Collins became the fourth former OSU player to sign with an NFL team as an undrafted free agent after the 2024 NFL Draft concluded Saturday evening without any Cowboys being selected. Defensive linemen Anthony Goodlow and Nathan Latu and receiver Leon Johnson III will also get a shot at the next level via the free agency route. Of the four, Latu is the only one that spent more than one season in Stillwater. Collins transferred to OSU after five years at Michigan State, where he started in every game as a freshman in 2019 before his touches became more limited. As a frosh, Collins led the Spartans with 988 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns. He was the first Spartan since 2005 to have three 100-yard rushing performances in their freshman season. In his final season at Michigan State in 2022, Collins was named a team captain before rushing for 318 yards on 70 carries and a team-high six rushing touchdowns. Once at OSU, Collins helped relieve Gordon along with Jaden Nixon, although Gordon had 285 carries, which was the eighth-most in a season in OSU history. With a limited 30 carries, Collins rushed for 142 yards and a pair of touchdowns this past season. He didn’t get a carry at all in five games while dealing with an injury in the latter half of the season. Collins initially came out of University of Detroit Jesuit as the top running back prospect in Michigan by 247Sports and Rivals. 247Sports also listed him as the 25th best running back recruit in the country. In Cincinnati, Collins will join a running back room that is looking to replace Joe Mixon, who was released last month. Collins is the only rookie running back the Bengals have added so far. ![]() Read this original article at Pistols Firing Blog. Former Oklahoma State Defensive End Anthony Goodlow Signs with Rams as Undrafted Free Agent4/27/2024 ![]() Another Cowboy is headed to L.A. Former Oklahoma State defensive end Anthony Goodlow signed with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent Saturday. Former OSU receiver Leon Johnson III is also headed west after signing with the Chargers. The 2024 NFL Draft concluded Saturday evening without any Cowboys being selected. Former OSU defensive end Nathan Latu also joined Goodlow and Johnson in taking the UDFA route to the NFL, signing with the New Orleans Saints. Both Goodlow and Johnson were in Stillwater for only one season after transferring as super seniors. Goodlow made the shortest trip from Tulsa, where he was a three-year starter and earned second team All-AAC honors in 2022. Goodlow was immediately a 6-foot-5, 280-pound force on OSU’s defensive line. He started nine of the Cowboys’ last 10 games in 2023 and appeared in all of them. Goodlow led OSU’s defensive line with 42 tackles, as well as seven tackles for loss and three sacks. He had a season-high six tackles in OSU’s win over Cincinnati. Goodlow also recorded at least one tackle in all but the first game of the season. Goodlow originally hailed from Del City, where he was a three-star recruit, according to 247Sports and Rivals. ![]() Read this original article at Pistols Firing Blog. Former Oklahoma State Wide Receiver Leon Johnson III Signs with Chargers as Undrafted Free Agent4/27/2024 ![]() Leon Johnson III has completed the journey of Division-III to NFL. Johnson, who played one season at Oklahoma State after transferring from Division-III George Fox, signed with the Los Angeles Chargers as an undrafted free agent Saturday. The 2024 NFL Draft concluded Saturday evening without any Cowboys being selected. But the draft ending means free agent signings rapidly rolling in, as former OSU defensive end Nathan Latu signed with the New Orleans Saints just before Johnson’s signing was announced. Johnson made an impressive impact in his only season at the Division-I level, stepping up when the Cowboys suffered a plethora of injuries at receiver and starting the last seven games of season, during which OSU went 5-2. Listed at 6-foot-5, Johnson caught 33 passes for 539 yards and a touchdown this past season. He didn’t even catch a pass until until OSU’s win against Cincinnati, meaning all of his stats came after Week 8. Johnson posted a career-high 149 receiving yards in that coming-out party against Cincinnati. A chunk of those yards came from an impressive 67-yard catch. At George Fox, Johnson was an AFCA DIII First Team All-American and the Northwest Conference Offensive Player of the Year in 2022 after posting 55 receptions for 1,156 yards and 14 touchdowns. He also earned second team All-Northwest Conference honors in 2021 and led George Fox in every major receiving category as a freshman in 2019. ![]() Read this original article at Pistols Firing Blog.
