Big 12 basketball will look a little different in the 2023-24 season.
Rather than 10 teams all playing each other home and away, the league will be at 14 teams this upcoming season with UCF, BYU, Houston and Cincinnati joining the league. Teams will still play 18 league games, but it’ll be split up a little bit. Here is a look at Oklahoma State’s pairings:
Oklahoma State Men’s Pairings
Home-and-Home | Home Only | Away Only |
BYU | Baylor | Houston |
Kansas | West Virginia | Texas |
Kansas State | TCU | Iowa State |
Oklahoma | UCF | Cincinnati |
Texas Tech |
Matchups were selected based on a combination of geography, historical results and a polling of the league’s coaches to best balance the schedule in terms of travel and competition, according to Oklahoma State’s release. Concrete dates for the games will be made available later in the summer.
It sets up to be a fun schedule for the Cowboys. Bedlam will continue for at least this upcoming season with games on each in-state squad’s home floor. The Pokes also get to go to Allen Fieldhouse and have the Jayhawks come to Stillwater. And a potential blossoming rivalry with Texas Tech will be played in both venues.
The Cowboys entirely dodge trips to Waco, Morgantown and Fort Worth (a gym Mike Boynton has never won in). Still, there is no such thing as an easy schedule in Big 12 hoops.
It’s the first time the league’s schedule has been unbalanced since the 2010-11 season.
Earlier in the day, the conference also released the women’s pairings, here is a look at those:
Oklahoma State Women’s Pairings
Home-and-Home | Home Only | Away Only |
Baylor | BYU | Cincinnati |
UCF | Houston | Kansas |
Iowa State | Texas | Kansas State |
Oklahoma | West Virginia | TCU |
