Good bye, Kansas City. Hello, Indianapolis.
The Cowboys showed signs of playing two tough opponents in consecutive days when they ran up against another in the better-rested Longhorns. UT earned its first Big 12 Tournament crown in seven tries and the Pokes fell to 2-2 in the conference final. Now both teams look forward to a March Madness.
• Marshall’s Five Thoughts on the loss are required reading, as usual.
• Mike Boynton addressed his team in the locker room after the loss, and reminded them that they’ve got more (and more meaningful) basketball left to play.
• Kalib Boone continued to stuff the stat sheet, scoring 12 on six shots, grabbing six boards and adding two more blocks to his OSU record week. I wrote about his willingness to do OSU’s dirty work before the game.
• Berry Tramel says the loss to Texas should do nothing to dampen OSU fans’ spirits looking down the road in March.
This actually was an encouraging game for OSU’s NCAA Tournament hopes. The Cowboys didn’t have their A game. Cade Cunningham was in foul trouble. Avery Anderson had a poor night. Bryce Williams remains under the weather and played just six minutes. Meanwhile, Texas appeared to be playing its A game, though someone from Austintatious would be a better judge.
And still it was a wonderfully competitive game, which capped a remarkable three days in Kansas City. For every team. [NewsOK]
• Well said.
• The Cowgirls also came up short in Kansas City on Saturday, falling to West Virginia 59-50 Big 12 Women’s Tournament semifinal. They’ll await their seeding in the NCAA Tournament which will be announced on Monday night.
• One hell of a year from Natasha Mack. I’m excited to see how far the Cowgirls can advance, as well.
• With all this talk of the Big Dance, how about a trip down memory lane? Jeff Goodman caught up with John Lucas III and Tony Allen about their Final Four run in 2004. It’s worth a listen.
• OSU’s baseball team ran into a buzz saw on Saturday, dropping its first two losses of the season against No. 2 Vandy — by a combined 19 runs.

• Berry on the disgraceful happening in Sapulpa. He hit the nail square on the head, like few can. [NewsOK]
• On the complicated plight of someone rooting for their team to lose (#Tank4Cade) from the perspective of an OKC fan. [The Ringer]
