The Cowboys haven’t historically been good in Bedlam matchups with ESPN’s College GameDay in town, but 2020 has flipped a lot of stats.
ESPN announced its flagship pregame show will be in Norman next weekend ahead of a ranked Bedlam matchup. It’s the sixth time the show has come to Bedlam, with the Sooners winning all of them.
The Cowboys are a combined 1-7 when College GameDay is in town, beating Baylor in 2013 and adding a loss to Florida State in 2014.
This isn’t a usual OSU team, however. This group of Cowboys has won games with its defense rather than a high-octane offense. Still, that stat isn’t great.
The last time GameDay was at a Pokes’ game was Bedlam in 2017, and it made for quite the contest.
Oklahoma won a Mason Rudolph vs. Baker Mayfield shootout 62-52. The two quarterbacks combined for 1,046 passing yards, 10 touchdowns and four interceptions. Justice Hill also ran for 228 yards and two scores.
James Washington had 128 receiving yards and a score. Marcell Ateman and Tyron Johnson each had two touchdown catches. Marquise “Hollywood” Brown went nuts for 265 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
This Bedlam looks to shape up a little differently with the defense the Cowboys have, but OU’s offense has started clicking as of late.
The 2020 rendition of Bedlam kicks off at 6:30 p.m. next week and can be seen on ABC.
