A college football video game hasn’t been released since 2013 — until Monday.
EA Sports College Football 25 was made available for people who preordered the Deluxe Edition, and for the first time, actual college players are (dare I say) in the game. Here is a look at the Cowboys’ overall ratings, some superlatives, the release starters and a comparison of the Cowboys’ quarterbacks’ ratings.

There were a handful of fictional players as well as some real-life Pokes being left off. The most notable of those (based on my quick skim) was running back Sesi Vailahi. There is a fake running back in the game named Quinten Edwards, who like Vailahi, is a sophomore.

Some freaks to have fun with in this game include Ollie Gordon II (obviously), Brennan Presley and AJ Green. It’s a shame Green will enter the 2024 season injured because he might make an impression with OSU fans in the video game considering he has 95 speed (first on the team), 93 agility (T2), 95 acceleration (T3). That type of quickness is only rivaled by Presley, who has 92 speed (T2), 95 agility (1), 96 acceleration (2) and 95 change of direction (1).

Zane Flores has a higher Day 1 overall than Garret Rangel, but Rangel is listed ahead of Flores on the depth chart.
Depending on the vibe of your dynasty mode, you could be tempted to hand Flores the reigns from the jump given he is just a few overall lower than Bowman with a bit more speed, similar throw power and a better deep accuracy. If you like to get a little mobile with your QB, though, Rangel is probably the way to go with the best speed, best deep accuracy and best throw on the run. Rangel also has the ability “Mobile Deadeye.”
But playing true to real life, Bowman is the answer. He has he best overall, solid accuracy across the board and is good under pressure and in the play-action game.
