By the time kickoff comes around, the Cougars could be all that stands in the way of the Cowboys getting back to Arlington.
Oklahoma State hosts BYU to close out the regular season. Should Texas take care of Texas Tech on Friday night, the Cowboys would need only a win against BYU to make the Big 12 title game for the second time in the past three seasons. Here are stats and other info for the game.

Season | Winner | Score | Location |
1976 | Oklahoma State | 49-21 | Orlando, Florida |
1974 | Oklahoma State | 16-6 | Tempe. Arizona |
These two teams have met just twice with both coming in bowl games in the 1970s.
Oklahoma State won the 1974 Fiesta Bowl 16-6 over BYU. The Cougars got out to a 6-o lead after the first quarter before Kenny Walker got the Cowboys on the board shortly before halftime with a 12-yard touchdown run. After taking a 10-6 lead off a 42-yard Abby Daigle field goal, the Cowboys iced the game in the fourth when OSU running back Leonard Thompson threw a 40-yard touchdown via halfback bass to Gerald Bain.
Two years later, they did it again, this time coming in the Orlando-based Tangerine Bowl. There was much more scoring in Florida, as this game ended 49-21 in OSU’s favor. Terry Miller was the offensive MVP, running for 173 yards and four touchdowns (including a 78-yard touchdown run).
