Although Texas has the series lead, OSU has had the Longhorns’ number as of late.
Between 1916 and 2009, OSU was 2-22 against Texas, but the Cowboys have gone 9-4 since.
These teams last met in Stillwater last season where OSU beat the Longhorns 41-34, pushing the Pokes to 6-1 on the season (don’t worry about the rest of the year). The OSU defense forced a young Quinn Ewers into his worst game as a college player, throwing three interceptions to go with a dreadful 39% completion percentage. Spencer Sanders, meanwhile, threw for 391 yards and a pair of touchdowns that day. Dominic Richardson had just 24 rushing yards that game, but he scored three times.
Texas had a 17-3 lead over OSU the year before in Austin. The Longhorns were threatening to score again before Jason Taylor intercepted a pass and returned it 85 yards to get the Cowboys back into it. From there, Brennan Presley found paydirt and Tanner Brown hit three more field goals with his final one giving OSU a 25-24 lead the Pokes wouldn’t let go of. Jaylen Warren didn’t get into the end zone that day, but Texas had a hard time tackling him in the second half. Warren finished with 193 rushing yards on 33 carries.
