Oklahoma State’s dismantlement of Kansas started exciting, but it devolved to a point where Saturday afternoon’s game in Lawrence was just sad.
The Cowboys thumped KU 47-7 on Saturday. I laid out my 10 thoughts on the game here. Here is my notebook from the Pokes’ third win of the year.
- Pooka is limping after his first carry. Not a great sign for the Jayhawks.
- Dillon Stoner is rocking baggy sleeves — look for him to go off today.
- The play-by-play guy isn’t in Lawrence and there’s a delay on the calls. Hopefully this gets fixed.
- Unsuccessful play, but Chuba Hubbard lined up in the slot with LD Brown in the backfield.
- How many ESPN+ plugs will this game have with the “Miles to Go” and “Our Time” ties? We’re at one.
- Texas just lost. Lord, help the Big 12.
- And Baylor lost. OSU is the only unbeaten Big 12 team left.
- Interesting:

- Shane Illingworth’s first career TD is a 66-yarder to Braydon Johnson.
- That’s also the first passing TD OSU has had this season.
- Illingworth eclipsed his career high in passing yards with 10 minutes to go in the second quarter.
- Tylan Wallace doing a good job of social distancing.

- Mike Gundy might be the best coach in America at making late defensive subs to draw timeouts or delay of game penalties.
- This is gross at this point.
- There have been a pair of scary friendly fire hits on Malcolm Rodriguez and Amen Ogbongbemiga. Thankfully, both got up and have a bye week to recoup.
- Lots of young guys getting in, which is cool to see. Games like this are what the four-game redshirt rule are for. With this year not counting toward eligibility, the rule doesn’t matter, but it’s good to see nonetheless.
- Dominic Richardson looks solid considering he was playing Oklahoma high school ball last season.
- Watch out for Rashod Owens. Two catches for 19 yards on two targets.
