The Cowboys have won a sixth Big 12 series.
Oklahoma State defeated Texas Tech 9-3 on Saturday in O’Brate Stadium to take a 2-0 lead in the three-game series. In those two games against the Red Raiders this weekend, the Cowboys have totaled 25 runs.
The teams each plated two runs in the first inning before the Cowboys finally busted it open in the seventh.
The bottom of that frame started with Tyler Wulfert battling through a 15-pitch, six-minute at-bat to hit a single. Wulfert fouled seven straight pitches off before putting a ball into right field. Zach Ehrhard also singled to right, setting up a Carson Benge three-run home run to left left-center. All three of those hits came with two strikes.

Aidan Meola then tallied a fourth run in the inning with a solo shot to right to give OSU a 6-2 lead.

Benge and Meola each hit home runs in the teams’ Friday night matchup, as well.
Tech clawed a run back in the eighth just for the Cowboys to bury the Red Raiders in the bottom of the frame.
Freshman Avery Ortiz hit a single up the middle on a full count that scored Lane Forsythe. Ehrhard then doubled down the left-field line to score Wulfert before Meola walked to load the bases and Colin Brueggemann walked to score a run.
As is customary on Saturdays, Brian Holiday got the start on the bump for the Cowboys. He threw 6 1/3 innings, giving up two runs on six hits while walking one and striking out 10. Lefty Drew Blake then tossed two-thirds of an inning before Robert Cranz closed things out with two perfect innings where he struck out five of the six batters he faced.
OSU has a chance at a series sweep with Game 3 set to start at 1 p.m. Sunday.
