No team has more players on the All-Big 12 First and Second Teams than Oklahoma State.
Seven Cowboys earned All-Big 12 selections, it was announced Monday. Carson Benge, Zach Ehrhard and Brian Holiday all picked up First Team honors, and Colin Brueggemann, Nolan Schubart, Sam Garcia and Robert Cranz were named to the Second Team.
Benge: A two-way player for the Pokes, Benge made the All-Big 12 First Team as an outfielder. He has a .327 batting average on the season with 53 RBIs (third in the Big 12) and 44 runs scored (also third in the Big 12). Benge has hit 22 doubles, which is tied for a Big 12 best. On the mound, Benge has a 2.45 ERA in 25 2/3 innings pitched with 30 strikeouts to eight walks. A sophomore out of Yukon, Benge was a NCBWA Freshman All-American last season.
Ehrhard: A junior from Tampa, Florida, Ehrhard is hitting .325 this season with 64 runs scored, which ranks second in the conference. He also has 45 RBIs. His 19 doubles rank sixth in the Big 12. Ehrhard was a unanimous selection to the Big 12 All-Freshman Team in 2022.
Holiday: A newcomer by way of Tampa and Central Florida Junior College, Holiday has a 3.32 ERA in 95 innings pitched this season. That’s the most innings spent on the bump from any Big 12 pitcher. Holiday’s 111 strikeouts rank second in the league, and he has walked only 18 batters this season.
Brueggemann: A 6-foot-6, 235-pound first baseman from Smithton, Illinois, Brueggemann is hitting .277 this season with 14 home runs and 46 RBIs and 42 runs scored. Brueggemann also made the All-Big 12 Second Team last season.
Schubart: Despite missing a chunk of the season because of injury, Schubart is still tied for second in the conference with 17 home runs, and his 53 RBIs rank fifth in the league. He is hitting .355 this season. Schubart was not only a Freshman All-American last season, but he was also an outright All-American. He earned Big 12 Freshman of the Year honors last season while also making the conference’s Second Team.
Garcia: A transfer pitcher from High Point, Sam Garcia ranks third in the Big 12 with 102 strikeouts this season. He boasts a 3.61 ERA in 77 1/3 innings pitched. Like Holiday, Garcia has walked only 18 batters this year.
Cranz: A Wichita State transfer, Cranz has been dynamic out of the Cowboys’ bullpen. In 41 1/3 innings pitched, Cranz has a team-best 1.74 ERA and 52 strikeouts. Teams are hitting just .150 off of him.
