David Taylor continues to stack the deck for his first recruiting class.
Oklahoma State on Tuesday picked up a commitment from two-time California state champion Ronnie Ramirez. He became the Cowboys’ ninth pledge of the 2025 class.
From Walnut High School in California, Ramirez has made the finals every season of his preps career so far. He was a finalist as a freshman before winning a state title the past two years as a sophomore and junior. He was perfect as a junior last season. With one year still left, Ramirez could go 4-for-4 in making the state finals in his career and notch a third title. And to add to Ramirez’s hardware, Walnut High School won the team title in 2024 and was runner-up in 2023.
Ramirez wrestled at 120 pounds last season, likely making him a 125- or 133-pounder in college. He’s ranked as the 27th best recruit in the 2025 class on MatScouts’ Big Board.
The Cowboys already have two commits included on FloWrestling’s Big Board in No. 3 LaDarion Lockett and No. 17 Kody Routledge. Lockett, out of Stillwater High School, has been committed to OSU since before Taylor was hired to replace John Smith after his retirement. Routledge, though, recently flipped his commitment from Nebraska to OSU since Taylor took over.
