Oklahoma State continues to be a pipeline to the pros.
The 2024 Major League Baseball Draft concluded on Tuesday with a pair of Cowboy pitchers bring selected on Day 3. Tommy Molsky and Ryan Ure capped a run of eight Cowboys to hear their names called that started with Carson Benge being taking 19th overall on Sunday night.
Those eight draft selections landed the Cowboys as tied for third most of any program in the draft and continued some impressive numbers under Josh Holliday. Before we get into them, let’s highlight OSU’s Day 3 draftees.
Tommy Molksy | Kansas City Royals | Round 12 (347th)
Molsky came to Stillwater by way of Penn State and proceeded to be named an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention in first year in the league. In 19 appearances, Molsky made two starts and compiled a 6-3 record and turned in a 4.83 ERA. Four of those wins came in Big 12 play. Molsky was a junior this past season.
Ryan Ure | San Francisco Giants | Round 19 (568th)
Another productive arm from OSU’s bullpen, Ure missed the first half of 2024 after sitting all of 2023 due to Tommy John surgery. But he still managed nine appearances this past season and went 1-0 with a 4.91 ERA. Ure was a sophomore last year.

Chicken or Egg?
Whether it’s his eye for (and ability to land) big talent or his staff’s vaunted developmental acumen — or a mixture of both — Josh Holliday is probably just happy to have this much talent on his roster year in and year out.
All in all, 30 schools had at least five players drafted with the Cowboys just three off the lead. Here’s what that list looks like.
The 2024 #MLBDraft is a wrap! Here’s a look at the 30 schools that had five or more draft picks, headlined by @HailStateBB with a nation-best 11.

What’s even more impressive is that those eight Cowboys ties for just seventh-most in program history. In the 12 years since Holliday took the reins at OSU, he’s had 72 players and 33 of those were in the first 10 rounds. The six players drafted in the first 10 rounds was good for second-most in program history. That was the sixth time that’s happened in program history and the third straight year. This year also marked the fourth time OSU has had three players drafted in the first five rounds.
