Oklahoma, we have a problem. Our public discourse is increasingly coarse. Sometimes menacing. Occasionally dangerous. Certainly unbecoming a civil society. Two recent incidents help illustrate the growing nastiness: A state representative is accused of threatening Yukon’s mayor because she had the temerity to require restaurant and bar workers to wear masks in the midst of a public health emergency. And the state’s Pardon and Parole Board executive director abruptly resigned after allegedly being threatened by a board member “for doing my job.”
