Accused Muskogee serial rapist released from jail

A man accused of a series of rapes in Muskogee was released from jail this week. Leroy Jemol Smith was charged in Muskogee County in June for allegedly raping five women in the 1990s. His charges have been dismissed because of the U. S. Supreme Court McGirt ruling on tribal jurisdictions. RELATED | The charges were then re-filed in federal court but were dismissed due to an expired statute of limitations, as a result, the judge ordered him to be released.
