On This Day In History
June 6th, 1966: James Meredith, an American civil rights leader, is wounded by a sniper ambush by James Aubrey Norvell.
It was Meredith’s second day of his March Against Fear, a planned 21-day, 270 miles (~435 km) march. The photograph after the attack, by Jack R Thornell, was the last photograph to win a Pulitzer before they stopped the category.
