ScoresSoftball: Cowgirls 6, Sooners 3 Three Thoughts• What a win in Norman for the Cowgirls last night after youngster Karli Godwin knocked in four RBIs – Cowgirls’ first win over the Sooners in Norman since 1997 when Bill Clinton was in office (PFB) • I’m no recruiting guru but loved seeing the Pokes add a tight end who plays a lot out wide – sort of wonder what the evolution of the position will be (PFB) • A veteran defensive back hit the portal yesterday – this is news since it’s not really happening this year. (PFB) This is sort of a Kanion Williams situation where a guy who’s been around is probably looking for a bigger role and doesn’t see it in Stillwater. Two Quotes• As the Pokes continue to fight for a Big 12 regular season title against Texas, deep shots could be a plentiful:
• The Bedlam series is in the bag.
One Question• Is there a prettier view in college baseball than this?

The Pokes had to lose again eventually. Oklahoma State’s six-game winning streak was halted by a 7-5 loss to Texas on Friday night in Austin. The Cowboys hadn’t lost a game since losing Game 2 and the series to Kansas State on April 20. Since, OSU had beaten K-State Game 3, swept BYU at home and thumped Wichita State and Oral Roberts in midweek contests. The Longhorns, though, took a late lead to snatch the win Friday night and put OSU in the loser’s column, dropping the Cowboys to 31-15 this season. Texas improved to 29-18. Tied 4-4 going into the seventh, Carson Benge doubled down the right-field line to score Lane Forsythe and give OSU a one-run lead. Texas answered, though, with a pair of runs in the bottom frame. OSU reliever Robert Cranz hit a batter with bases loaded to tie the game again. Cranz wasn’t responsible for loading the bases, though. Tommy Molsky, who ultimately got the loss, gave up a single and double while striking out one to start the inning before getting pulled. Ryan Ure then came in but only intentionally walked a batter to load the bases with runners already on second and third before Cranz entered to finish the game. After the hit batter, Kimble Schuessler then hit a sac fly to right field to score Peyton Powell and give the Longhorns a lead they kept. The Cowboys were scoreless the rest of the way, as Texas added one more in the eighth. The Cowboys and Longhorns will meet again for Game 2 at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Austin. The series will conclude at 1 p.m. Sunday. Read this original article at Pistols Firing Blog.

A second Cowboy defender has hit the portal. Oklahoma State cornerback Jordan Reagan’s name popped up in the transfer portal on Friday, according to 247Sports’ McClain Baxley. Listed at 6-foot-1, 190 pounds, Reagan has been with the Cowboys since 2020 and has recorded three tackles. Out of Bixby, Reagan was a three-star recruit in the 2020 class and chose OSU over offers from Memphis, Tulsa, Air Force, Army, Navy and others. He was the No. 836 player in his class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Reagan joins fellow Oklahoman Donovan Stephens as Cowboys in the portal. The portal closed Wednesday, but that was just the deadline to submit paperwork to enter, which is likely why Reagan’s name is popping up a little bit late. He exits a corner room that returns starters Korie Black and Cam Smith in 2024. Black has started 26 games with OSU and Smith has 17 starts under his belt. The room also includes Kale Smith, who played in all 14 games as a sophomore this past season, and Arkansas State transfer Kenneth Harris, who redshirted with OSU last season. With Colby Powell on the road, Carson Cunningham is joined by PFB’s Marshall Scott discussing Steve Lutz’s contract, portal additions and Brandon Garrison. Marshall also recaps spring football and previews Bedlam softball. You know what helps the show and helps us make more shows?
