When former presidents, Bill Clinton & Barack Obama organized presidential events in Minneapolis, the local govt encouraged police officers to attend in uniform, as ambassadors of the city. But when President Trump arrives this Thursday, all city police officers will be banned from wearing their police uniforms at any of the venues involved in the major events.
Donald Trump has scheduled a major rally at the state's largest NBA arena, the Target Center(20k seats). It's not Trump's first or 2nd political event in the Gopher State. He's held massive rallies in Duluth & Rochester. But now he's ready to bring his political power to the vastly far left bastions of the Twin Cities (Mpls & St Paul). The Mpls Police Union has responded with a move of their own. They commissioned a red tee shirt design in the classic red with a Minnesota silhouette. the simple bold text says; "Cops For Trump". It's also possible that a legal suit will be filed against the city on first amendment grounds. |
The protest is based on the gist of the petition is blatantly false. With these misleading and false claims, signature seekers are collecting signatures on false pretenses that misrepresent HB2597 passed by the legislature and signed into law by the governor.
The claim that a person can carry a firearm on a college campus is blatantly false, inaccurate, misleading, deceitful, inflammatory. Here is a video recorded yesterday proving our statements conducted by Don Spencer, president of the OK2A. https://youtu.be/4RnhRNBVf8k Council for the protest is Kevin Calvey and Robert Robles.
Davis did release a statement tonight. He said there are aspects of his arrest he wants to address in court, but acknowledges the mere appearance of impropriety is "unacceptable". He apologized for putting himself in the position. “I am embarrassed by this situation and deeply sorry to my family, community and colleagues," Davis stated. "My role as a legislator carries the responsibly to lead by example, and in this case I should have done better in that regard. "I will ensure this does not happen again while working through the due process of the justice system.” Our lawmakers come from all backgrounds, all family traditions and all cultures. They struggle like the rest of us and they feel pain like the rest of us. Yet is our job as the electorate, to select those who can best devote themselves to leading us in both policy decisions and personal example.
We believe in redemption and we believe in praying for those who serve us. As Rep. Davis demonstrates the needed corrective measures in his life, it will be his constituents who must decide if he is fit to bear their trust. I personally hope and pray that Dean Davis steps up and does so, humbly. For God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. |
